The Society has three river stretches and a pool in the middle Teme valley. We also make several visits in the year by invitation to a private water on the Upper Wye. This gives us varied year-round fishing.
The Teme has Barbel, Chub, Dace, Grayling, and a few Trout and Salmon. The banks are steep in many places and it repays Winter fishing or early Spring reconnaissance to work out the best spots and access to them. The barbel can be very big and hefty tackle is the order of the day if you are fishing for them.
The pool contains mainly Carp, Roach and Perch. The Carp are usually sized between one pound and five pounds so normal coarse tackle can produce epic battles when the bigger ones make an appearance. Good fun.
The Upper Wye venue that we visit has good Trout, Grayling and Chub. It is ideal for fly fishing tactics but often coarse fishing results in the biggest weights. If you are going to wade then studs in the waders are a distinct advantage as the stones and rocks are very slippery.
